The Bizen Revisited Sake Set honors the iconic and culturally powerful collaboration between Isezaki Jun, Living National Treasure of Bizen and his lineage: Kakurezaki Ryuichi, former premier apprentice to Isezaki Jun and now a rock star of the Japanese art scene; Jeff Shapiro, mentored by Isezaki Jun and colleague of Kakurezaki; Tim Rowan, former apprentice to Kakurezaki; and Isezaki Koichiro, son of Isezaki Jun and former apprentice to Jeff Shapiro in New York.
These exclusive sets were made for our historic exhibition Bizen Revisited with panel discussion by Judy Schwartz held in November of 2022. Bizen Revisited continued the legacy of Isezaki Jun, Living National Treasure of Japan, and the four artists most connected to him who first showed here together in our exhibition Generational Crossroads/Bizen Connection of 2006.
